Kerrytown Market & Shops

Kerrytown Market & Shops has 23 locally-owned businesses located in a trio of historic buildings built 1874-1920, located next to the Farmer’s Market.

The Independent Difference
When you walk in Kerrytown Markets & Shops, you’ll notice that it feels different than a mall or shopping center.  Customers come to Kerrytown because they enjoy the feeling of community and know they can find affordable and unique goods.  Business owners choose to locate in Kerrytown because they appreciate being around other long-time business owners in buildings that are part of a neighborhood, but yet part of the downtown shopping districts at the same time.

Tes Hass, owner of V2V, believes “People love a downtown shopping experience. It is so much more real – you buy thing you actually want and need, and you know people.” Over the twenty years she has been located in Kerrytown, she has grown from a small store to a 9000 square foot store. “One of the reasons we expanded was to be local and still be really competitive,” she says.

Mary Campbell, owner of everyday wines & everyday cook, explains that: “I couldn’t think of a better place to open my business than Kerrytown Market & Shops. At the Market, you have people shopping in their neighborhood who know each other.”

A Community Gathering Place
Authentic community gathering places are hard to find. On Farmer’s Market days, Kerrytown Market and the Farmer’s Market bustle with neighbors running into each other while buying tomatoes at the Farmer’s Market, or grass-fed beef at Sparrow’s Meats, and friends browsing home furnishing at V2V Apparel or upstairs in Kerrytown’s second floor businesses. “Kerrytown Market & Shops and the Farmer’s Market have a symbiotic relationship. People come for the whole experience of the shops and the market”, says Karen Farmer, Kerrytown’s Manager.  She goes on to note that: “It’s a place where business owners like Bob [Sparrow] remember their customer’s names, and where the community comes not only to shop but to spend time”.
