Membership Description & Cost
Membership is open to locally-owned businesses, organizations, and individuals who commit to and are able to purchase goods and services from as many local sources as possible.
Membership in Think Local First has many benefits including:
- Your business listing in our Think Local First
Directory, released in November 2009. Members are also listed in our online
marketplace all year long. The directory is distributed at all of our
154 businesses as well as at the Ann Arbor District Library, Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti Chamber of Commerce, Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority, through
the Newcomer's Welcome Service which sends copies to new folks in the area, and elsewhere.
- Increasing identification of your business as a locally-owned
independent business - we provide membership decals for your door and access to an
electronic copy of the Think Local First decal for your business cards
or ad.
- Announcement of your businesses' information to our business and community newsletter lists.
- Free or reduced price admission to educational and social business events.
- Joining a network of other businesses (plus individuals) who care about our community & excel at what they do.
- Advocating to increase knowledge of the importance of supporting local businesses by educating our community about the value of locally-owned businesses. We do this through speaking to organizations, policy-makers, and at conferences and community events.
- Knowing you are helping to keep independent businesses visible, vital, and growing in Washtenaw County!
Option 1: Regular Membership
- Individual/non-business supporter - $50
- Business/Organization with Annual Sales under $50k - $110
- Business/Organization with Annual Sales $50k to $750k - $160
- Business/Organization with Annual Sales greater than $750k - $300
OR Option 2: Sustaining Membership. Help Us Do More!
Your sustaining membership will allow us to increase the time we spend educating our community about the importance of supporting locally-owned businesses. Sustaining members are promoted on the front page of our website and at meetings and conferences, and have first shot at participating in our profiled in the beginning of our directory.- Sustaining Individual - $200
- Sustaining Business/Organization with Annual Sales under $750k - $600
- Sustaining Business/Organization with Annual Sales over $750k - $1,000
