A First Bank of Nigeria PSC, Omoniyi Victor, was docked in Ikorodu, Lagos State on Monday for allegedly conspiring with others to steal 303,000 naira.

Omoniyi is charged with conspiracy and theft.

He pleaded not guilty.

Prosecution attorney Insp Aminu Isaac told the court that the accused committed the offense on January 21 at around 12:17 p.m. at the first bank branch in the Omitoro area along the road Ijede in Ikorodu.

Isaac said the accused stole an ATM card belonging to Ms Abidemi Agbaje and withdrew 303,000 naira without her consent.

The prosecutor said the complainant asked the defendant to help her withdraw her ATM card which had been “swallowed up” by the machine being a bank staff.

He said the complainant started receiving withdrawal alerts from her account and immediately reported to the bank’s management.

The prosecutor said the offense contravened the provisions of Sections 411, 287 and 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Act, 2015 which provides for a three-year prison sentence on conviction.

The magistrate, Mrs. GO Anifowoshe, admitted the defendant to bond the sum of 50,000 naira with two sureties of a similar sum with proof of payment of tax, Lasra and must engage in remunerated activity.

The magistrate adjourned the case until June 23 for trial. (NOPE)
