Punjab-based ATM fraud gang busted, six arrested, 62 ATMs seized: SSP Samba | Jammu News

JAMMU: Samba Police claimed to have busted a gang of ATM scammers with the arrest of six people along with 62 ATM cards and cash worth Rs 10,000/ – here Monday.
This was revealed by Chief Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba, Dr Abhishek Mahajan during an interaction with reporters here today.
Disclosure of the details, SSP Samba said, “Samba District Police today dismantled an ATM card theft/exchange gang with the arrest of 06 people and the recovery of ATM cards, cash and a edged weapon.”
“A complaint has been received at Vijaypur Police Station regarding incidents of ATM card exchange and cash withdrawal in the area,” SSP Samba said.
He said: “Coming to notice of the complaint, PS Vijaypur investigated the matter and after arduous efforts by the police team headed by SHO Inspector PS Vijaypur Rajeev Kumar under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur, Ms Priyanka Kumari succeeded in arresting six (06) people involved in ATM exchange/theft cases.
“The arrested gang members are from Punjab, SSP Samba said, adding: “The accused have been identified as Rahul kumar s/o Jaganath Saini; Krishna Yadav n/a Jangi Yadav; Suresh Kumar n/a Sunil Saini; Sahib Saini n/a Bala Saini; Dharminder saini n/a Vishwanath Saini and Khalil Mia n/a Hakim Mia all residents of Phagwara, Kapurthala of Punjab.
“Upon their disclosure during sustained interrogation, a total of 62 ATM cards of different banks were recovered from them, along with a sum of Rs 10,000/-.”
“A vehicle (PB36J 8159) used by the gang members in the commission of a crime and a sharp weapon like Khokhri were also seized, SSP Samba added.
He said: “A case under FIR No. 66/2022 u/s 420, 120B IPC 4/25 Arms Act has been registered in the ongoing case at Vijaypur Police Station and further investigation has commenced.”
