The alleged killers of two policemen arrested in Akwa Ibom
Akwa Ibom State Police arrested three armed robbers suspected of being linked to the murder of two policemen, a private security officer and a little boy at a hotel in Uyo.
The suspects, who are said to be specialists in the destruction of ATMs, were arrested on July 10 by agents of the anti-theft squad through the intelligence services.
Akwa Ibom police spokesman Odiko Macdon revealed this during a press conference in Uyo on Friday.
Mr MacDon, a police superintendent, said the suspects were found and arrested at a fast food store, Tantalizer, along Abak Road, Uyo, as they attempted to destroy an ATM.
He said the suspects confessed to their involvement in the murders of the two policemen and the other two victims, the destruction of several ATMs where they stole at least N26 million, and other crimes.
“On July 10 at around 9:53 am, there was an alert that some thugs had used a welding machine to maliciously destroy the automatic teller machine (ATM) at the Oliver Twist branch in Access bank located along Brook Street, Uyo, and carried the sum of N8million.
“Officers from the command’s anti-theft team tracked the thugs to Tantalizer Fast Food located along Abak Road, Uyo, where they were arrested while attempting to destroy another ATM.
“During questioning, the suspects confessed to being involved in the destruction of the Access Bank ATM and robbed the 8 million naira bank.
“They also confessed to being responsible for the destruction of the Union Bank ATM and the theft of 11 million naira from the College of Education of Afaha Nsit, as well as the theft in Ikot Ekpene where they stole 7 million naira. . “
Mr MacDon said the suspects also acknowledged the attack on the Jean Juliet supermarket in Ikot Ekpene Road, where they killed a little boy.

He said the suspects admitted that they were also responsible for the attack on the Metropolitan supermarket in Oron Road, the theft from E-Plus Mates at Atiku Abubakar Avenue in Uyo, and the murder of two police officers in the Tranquility Hotel, Nung Oku.
“They were responsible for the robbery at the Maya restaurant in Two Lanes where a private security man was killed and the robbery that took place at the R&R supermarket and the attack on a Sienna bus in Nwaniba, Uyo,” said Mr. MacDon.
The police spokesperson also said that five suspects specializing in armed robberies and car snatching were also arrested by officers from the anti-theft squad.
He said the recovered items included four locally made pistols, four spent rounds, an empty round of AK-47 ammunition and a red Toyota Sienna car with registration number MUS 797 GS.
The spokesperson said the suspects would be brought to justice after an investigation.
